DUAL FUSE® ISO Tanks

One feature that sets it apart from regular iso tank containers is that the DFT containers, can be operated when placed in the common horizontal plane as well as the vertical plane, not unlike a silo. When standing vertically on its rear end frame, the DFT container does indeed resemble a silo if only you look at its conical bottom section.

This vertical configuration and it’s resulting small footprint is favoured on Offshore Oil Rigs where space is tight. Dual means ‘consisting of two parts.’ In practical terms what it means here is that ‘Dual’ relates to it affording Operators twice the regular common tank functionality i.e. a capacity to load under vacuum plus additionally the capacity to load & discharge through positive air pressure.

Besides the design of the DFT container, what gives it its power is the equipment it gets ‘hooked up to,’ to load and discharge. This includes heavy-duty liquid ring vacuum pumps with air capacity of 1600cfm, Liquid Ring Vacuum Pump, ATEX certified T-5, belt-driven, 27″ Hg Vacuum.

The Role of ISO Tank Containers…

In the Oil producing sectors’ supply chain management, iso tank containers of a variety of designs and specifications in conformity with DNV 2.7.1 and EN12079 and more recently ISO 10855, continue to play an important part to collect drilling waste from Offshore Oil Rigs, FPSO’s (Floating Production Storage and Offloading vessels), as well as well as from Onshore Oil production facilities for disposal at drilling waste processing facilities.

The deployment of iso tank containers in Offshore did not happen in isolation rather their use evolved in tandem with the wider global tank container industry. The Iso tank container industry at large has a proud, 60-year-old history with a second to none operational safety track record and iso tank containers have become the equipment of choice world-wide for the storage and transportation of bulk liquids, powders, granulates and semi solids, as well as liquefied industrial, refrigerant, propellant and cryogenic gases.

Enter the ‘Dual Fuse® tank containers’, a specialised vacuum-cum pneumatic tank container designed and built to collect, store, convey and transport both on and offshore drilling waste. The Dual Fuse@tank container hereafter referred to in short form as DFT container, was conceived and developed by Tankformator (www.tankformator.com). DFT containers became Tankformator’s second vacuum tank development even though this time it has become a tank container that besides vacuum service can be used for pneumatic service.
